About JABJ

The Jackson Association of Black Journalists was formed in 1983 to provide advocacy for black journalists in the Jackson, Mississippi area and encourage balanced news coverage of the black community. The JABJ also provides employment opportunity information as well as workshops for high school and college students and community organizations.

"Journalism can never be silent: that is its greatest virtue and its greatest fault. It must speak, and speak immediately, while the echoes of wonder, the claims of triumph and the signs of horror are still in the air."
